Birthdays are special times which call for a special celebration! I can’t think of a better way to celebrate a birthday than to spend it at Walt Disney World. In fact, that’s just what I did for my birthday last September. In honor of Frontierland Station’s 1st birthday, which just happens to be today, let’s take a look at some of the best ways to celebrate birthdays at Walt Disney World.
Get a birthday button! Just visit Guest Services and let them know you’re celebrating a birthday. They will happily give you a birthday button to wear for the duration of your trip. They might even give the other members of your party an I’m Celebrating button so they can share in the fun. Your birthday button will let everyone know you’re celebrating. Many guests and cast members will wish you a happy birthday. Some of them might even sing to you! Last September, a cast member outside of Columbia Harbour House sang a cute birthday song for me. I wish I had a video of it to share with you!
Make a note of your celebration on all reservations! Disney loves to help make guests’ celebrations extra special. When you book your Disney vacation, be sure to have your travel agent ask Disney to make a note on your reservation indicating someone in your party will be having a birthday during the trip. When booking your ADRs, be sure to let Disney know you’re celebrating a birthday. Many restaurants will give the birthday boy or girl a special treat such as a free birthday cupcake! However, please keep in mind the cast members are not required to give out birthday freebies and there is no guarantee you receive one.
Take a specialty cruise! Disney offers several different types of specialty cruises. These cruises sail around Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon, as well as, Cresent Lake near the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. Specialty cruises can accommodate 8 to 10 guests and also include dining. They even offer birthday cruises complete with a birthday cake! The fireworks cruises are another great way to celebrate. You can choose from watching Illuminations or Wishes for your fireworks cruise.
Attend the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party! This is by far the best spot to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks. It gives you a phenomenal view of the show and Tinkerbell will even fly right over you! As if a spectacular view of some of Disney’s best fireworks isn’t enough, this experience also includes delicious treats such as chocolate-covered strawberries, pastries, cookies, and hot and cold beverage.
