Brightly colored fireworks lit up the night sky as a patriotic medley filled the air at Magic Kingdom. The stars and stripes could be seen projected onto Cinderella Castle. This moment and so many similar ones from Independence Days over the years have become my favorite 4th of July memories. For me, there is no better way to celebrate Independence Day than with the dazzling fireworks displays at Walt Disney World.
Guests visiting Walt Disney World for Independence Day 2017 will be able to experience two special 4th of July fireworks shows. At Magic Kingdom, a special 4th of July celebration will take place on both July 3rd and 4th at 9 p.m. Both nights will feature Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky. This special fireworks show over Cinderella Castle will include stunning fireworks choreographed to patriotic music.
On July 4th, 2017 at 9 p.m., Epcot will celebrate America’s Independence Day with a special patriotic addition to IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. A special laser light finale featuring patriotic music will accompany the regular nighttime spectacular.
As you may know, the week of July 4th is the second most crowded week of the year at Walt Disney World. But don’t let that discourage you, it’s also my favorite week of the year to visit! Because the parks will be so crowded, I recommend viewing Disney’s Celebrate America! on July 3rd. Yes, Magic Kingdom will be crowded on the 3rd, but it may be slightly less crowded than on the 4th. Also, the Epcot 4th of July celebration will only take place on July 4th, making it my park of choice to celebrate Independence Day. There’s also something quite special about visiting the American Adventure pavilion on our nation’s birthday!
It should be noted that while I’m a huge fan of park hopping, even crazy enough to take on 4 parks in one day, I do not recommend park hopping on July 3rd and 4th. There are different phases of park closure due to capacity and guests staying on-property are the last to be denied park entry, but it’s just not worth the risk of being turned away to me. If you must park hop on July 3rd and 4th, be sure to check the status of the other parks before leaving your current park.
No matter which park you choose to visit to celebrate 4th of July, you’re sure to have a “distinctly patriotic” celebration, as Sam Eagle would say.
