Plane Crazy was the first Mickey Mouse cartoon to be created. In addition to Mickey, several other beloved Disney characters also made their debut in this cartoon. Among those is Clarabelle Cow.
In 1928 audiences first saw Clarabelle as a farm cow in Plane Crazy. Between 1930 and 1932, Clarabelle appeared in numerous Disney cartoons including The Chain Gang which saw Pluto’s debut. She also appeared in The Karnival Kid, The Birthday Party, Barnyard Olympics, Mickey’s Revue, and many more.
After 1932, Clarabelle’s appearances became less frequent. In fact, after her 1942 appearance in Symphony Hour, it was over 40 years before her next appearance. She returned to Disney cartoons in 1983’s Mickey’s Christmas Carol. Clarabelle has only appeared in a handful of cartoons since the Christmas classic. Her most recent appearance was in Get A Horse! which was shown to audiences prior to Frozen.
