Over the years, Epcot has hosted many wonderful attractions which sadly are not longer a part of the theme park. Kitchen Kabaret, located in The Land pavilion, was one of the opening day attractions at Epcot Center in 1982. Sponsored by Kraft Foods, the attraction used singing animatronic foods to educate guests about the importance of good nutrition.
Of the numerous songs featured in the show, many guests, myself included, found Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit to be the most memorable. This number was sung by Colander Combo and The Fiesta Fruit. As you can probably guess, these singing fruits encouraged guests to remember to eat their fruits and vegetables. As with the rest of the Kitchen Kabaret music, Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit was composed by Disney legend Buddy Baker and Scott Hennesy. Take a look at Colander Combo and The Fiesta Fruit in the video below, and feel free to sing along!
In 1994, when Kraft’s sponsorship came to an end, Kitchen Kabaret was replaced by the Nestle sponsored Food Rocks. While parts of the original show managed to survive the transition into Food Rocks, Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit did not make it into the new show.
Do you remember singing along to Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit during Kitchen Kabaret at Epcot?
