In 2002, the Disney Channel put an end to what many Disney history fans may consider the best 3 hour block of television programming at the time: Vault Disney. Though I haven’t been able to find the exact start date, I believe Vault Disney began airing sometime in the 1990s on Disney Channel. This programming block consisted of many old Disney television shows, as well as, cartoon shorts. It would come on late each night, around 11 o’clock Eastern I believe.
On many Friday nights, I would watch a little bit of Vault Disney before calling it a night. I remember watching one of my favorite shows, Zorro, on many occasions. It was usually the first show to air on Friday nights. Other shows seen during Vault Disney included The Mickey Mouse Club, Disneyland, The Wonderful World of Color, and Davy Crockett. Cartoon shorts such as the Silly Symphonies and the Ludwig Von Drake could also been seen during Vault Disney.
I would love to see Disney bring back these old television shows again someday! For now, here’s a bit of nostalgia from the Vault Disney intro. I loved seeing this when Vault Disney came on the air. It was almost like experiencing a Disney attraction.
