Favorite Food Friday: Tonga Toast

Tonga Toast

Tonga Toast is a delicious breakfast entree served at Kona Cafe in the Polynesian. I haven’t had the chance to try Disney’s version of it yet; however, I found the recipe for it on a Disney blog and just had to try making it at home. That was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! If homemade Tonga Toast is this delicious, I can only image how amazing Disney’s version of it must be!

So what exactly is Tonga Toast? In order to make it, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Sourdough Bread
  • Eggs
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar
  • Bananas
  • Milk

Tonga Toast Ingredients

The bread is filled with bananas, dipped in an egg batter and then deep fried. Next, the toast is rolled in cinnamon sugar. Then you’re ready to enjoy one of the most amazing breakfasts you’ll ever try!

When I made this recipe, I found that it made a bit too much Tonga Toast for just two people, so I adjusted the recipe to be for only 1/4 a loaf of sourdough bread. You can find Disney’s recipe here. Be sure to let me know what you think of it if you make some!

  • Huh. After hearing so much about Tonga Toast, I was expecting it to be much more complicated. Less is more, I guess! Basically deep fried French toast.
