#ImagineeringFriday: Adding A New Country To World Showcase

#ImagineeringFriday Adding A New Country To World Showcase - Jamaica

Our friends at Dad For Disney have started a new blog hop which gives us all the opportunity to do a little imagineering of our own. Each week there will be a different topic for us to consider. This week we are tasked with Imagineering a new World Showcase pavilion for an additional country. After thinking for about a minute, I decided it would be fun to add Jamaica to World Showcase!

So why out of all the countries to choose from would I add Jamaica? Well, being married to a travel agent who is always planning vacations to tropical locations and listening to reggae music, it doesn’t take long before you start to wish you were on a tropical island. Over the last few years, I’ve grown to love reggae music and Jamaican food. (Yes, we have authenic Jamaican food here in Nashville. If you’re ever in town, be sure to stop by Jamaicaway!) And of course, who wouldn’t love the sun, sand, and ocean breezes of Jamaica.

First, we’ll need a pavilion which embodies the beauty of Jamaica. There would be beautiful waterfalls similar to Dunn’s River Falls near Ocho Rios. There would also be plenty of palm trees. I would love to add in some crystal clear turquoise water. Who knows, maybe there would even be a boat ride at the pavilion!

Every World Showcase pavilion needs some music! The Jamaican pavilion will have a steel drum band playing multiple performances each day. They would play reggae versions of classic Disney songs, as well as some songs by popular Jamaican artists such as Bob Marley. Speaking of Bob Marley, we will definitely need a Bob Marley tribute band at the Jamaican pavilion. This would be the musical highlight of the pavilion and would also have multiple shows throughout the day.

The Jamaican pavilion would not be complete without some delicious foods. The specialties at this World Showcase pavilion would be the jerk chicken, the Jamaican beef patties, and the fried plantains. If you’ve never experienced these Jamaican food before, you are missing out. They are delicious! The pavilion would also serve such as rice, beans, and other foods you might enjoy in Jamaica. In addition to food, the Jamaican pavilion would also serve delicious Jamaican blue mountain coffee.
