Welcome to those of you joining me from Heidi’s Head and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the Final stop on our Magical Blogorail.
In celebration of Valentine’s Day tomorrow, we are taking a look at some of the most romantic Disney restaurants. For me, a romantic dinner at Disney would consist of great food, a fabulous view, and of course, fireworks over the Magic Kingdom. I can’t think of a better restaurant for a Disney date night than California Grill.
Located in Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the recently re-imagined California Grill allows guest to experience the unique flavors of the Pacific coast. Once you check in for your reservation on the 2nd floor, you will be escorted to a private elevator which will ascend to the 15th floor of the resort. Upon your arrival to this signature restaurant, you will be greeted by a spectacular panorama of Seven Seas Lagoon and the Magic Kingdom!
Of course, there is much more to a romantic dinner at the California Grill than just the view. The restaurant features an onstage kitchen where you can watch as the chefs prepare exquisite dishes. Dining options at California Grill include delicious appetizers such as Oven-dried Tomato Flatbread (what I would most likely order), Three Meat Signature Meatballs, Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli, and more.
I’m not much for fish and have no plans to ever try sushi, but if you love sushi California Grill has got you covered. They offer several different sushi options including the Dragon Roll which almost looks good enough to make this non-sushi-eater reconsider that decision. California Grill also serves carrot and cilantro soup and a variety of salads.
For the main course, guests can choose gourmet selections such as Oak-fired Filet of Beef, Bone-In Veal Chop, or Bison Center Cut Strip Loin. If you love seafood, you can choose entrees such as Atlantic Swordfish or Seafood Stew. For a romantic dinner at California Grill, I would probably order the Pork Two Ways which features grilled pork tenderloin, goat cheese polenta, mushrooms, lacquered belly, and applesauce.
The desserts at California Grill are the perfect end to your romantic dinner for two. Selections include Vanilla Crème Brûlée, a Sundae Sampler, and, what I would probably order, Chocolate Pudding Cake. If you don’t have much of a sweet tooth, the Chef’s Selection Cheese Board is another dessert option.
Now, on to what I consider to be the most romantic part of the evening – fireworks! California Grill offers an excellent view of Wishes. They even dim the lights and pipe in the soundtrack for the show. If your reservation is not during the fireworks, you can bring your receipt to the 2nd floor check-in desk or just let them know you have a reservation for later in the evening. You will then be invited to view Wishes from your choice of the California Grill Lounge or outside on the observation deck. For me, watching fireworks over the Magic Kingdom from the observation deck sounds like the perfect end to a romantic date night at Disney!
