While each Disney park has some great attractions to help avoid rain, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is my favorite park to visit on a particularly rainy Disney day. The majority of the attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are either indoors or covered. In addition, many of these attractions are shows with run-times from 20 to 30 minutes – keeping you entertained and out of the rain longer. Let’s take a look at a few of the best rainy day attractions Disney’s Hollywood Studios has to offer.

Voyage of The Little Mermaid

Located in the Animation Courtyard, this under the sea show is one of my favorite ways to escape the rain at Hollywood Studios. Voyage of The Little Mermaid is a 15 minute long show which combines live actors, puppets, and animation. While the line for this show does sometimes get long enough to be outside in the weather, you usually won’t have to wait long to enter the show’s indoor waiting room as show runs fairly often throughout the day. While you wait, be sure to check out all of the interesting nautical decorations around the room.

Upon entering the theater, guests will be immersed into the world of Ariel and her friends. One of the highlights of the show is the “Under The Sea” scene. This scene is brought to life with numerous black-light puppets including some incredibly cute sea snails. Voyage of The Little Mermaid also features many favorite songs from the film. A live actress brings to life an emotional rendition of “Part of Your World.” Later, a larger than life Ursula puppet tells us about the “Poor Unfortunate Souls” she has helped.

Beauty & The Beast – Live On Stage

My favorite Hollywood Studios show, Beauty & The Beast – Live On Stage, is another great way to stay dry during a rainy Disney day. This show will keep you out of the rain for 25 minutes, longer if you arrive early to get a better seat. Beauty & The Beast – Live On Stage is a Broadway style show featuring live actors, gorgeous costumes, and beautiful music. This show, which debuted on the film’s release date in 1991, is definitely a must do for any day at Hollywood Studios. Because this is such an elaborate stage show, there are only a handful of performances throughout the day; so you’ll want to consult the Times Guide before arriving at the Theater of The Stars on Sunset Boulevard.

Muppet*Vision 3D

The Muppets have been delighting audiences since the 1970s, so it’s no surprise they have found their way to a wonderful attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Muppet*Vision 3D, one of the longer attractions in the park, features an entertaining 12 minute long pre-show – though you probably won’t see all of it – and an approximately 18 minute long show. The waiting area for Muppet*Vision 3D could keep you entertained with the pre-show and the hidden jokes alone. Be sure to look for my favorite little detail in the pre-show area, a net full of Jello – a tribute to Disney Legend Annette Funicello.

Upon arriving in the theater, you’ll be treated to a demonstration of Muppet*Vision 3D, the newest technology from Muppet Labs. The show is filled with all kinds of Muppet chaos, cheap 3D tricks, and, of course, a wonderful show stopping number from Miss Piggy. Muppet*Vision 3D also features appearances by many of our favorite Muppets including Kermit, Fozzie, Beaker, and more. Waldorf and Statler even provide their cynical commentary of the show.

Thanks to the wonderful shows, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a great park for a rainy Disney day. Which attraction is your favorite way to escape the rain?
