Top 10 Ways To Celebrate An Anniversary At Disney

Magical Blogorail Orange: Top 10 Ways To Celebrate An Anniversary At Disney

Welcome to those of you joining me from I Am a Mommy Nerd and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail.

There are so many great ways to celebrate anniversaries. Just a couple weeks before our second anniversary, my husband and I visited Walt Disney World. We celebrated early with some Disney anniversary buttons. Our anniversary is in July, which just happens to be my favorite time of year to visit Walt Disney World. So I’m sure we will celebrate many more anniversaries at Disney. Here are some of my favorite Disney anniversary celebration ideas:

Top 10 Ways To Celebrate An Anniversary At #Disney - Anniversary Button

10. Anniversary Buttons – Disney gives out free celebration buttons for just about any occasion. Featuring Mickey & Minnie, the anniversary buttons are some of the cutest. You can get them at your resort front desk, ticket window, or Guest Services in the parks. The cast members may even write how long you’ve been married on the button. Be sure to wear your button each day of your vacation. You will be met with congratulations from both cast members and fellow guests. If you’re lucky, you might even get something free because of your buttons. I don’t recall getting anything free because of our anniversary buttons, but my parents did get a beautiful Christmas ornament for their anniversary celebration at Liberty Tree Tavern. So be sure to wear your button and make a note of your celebration on any dining reservations. You just never know what extra Disney magic Mickey has up his sleeve!

9. In-Room Celebrations Disney Floral and Gifts offers a variety of in-room celebrations including a couple of romance themed celebrations. The “From Mickey And Minnie With Love” option includes rose petals, candles, and chocolate in your room, as well as, a spa basket. It also includes a dozen pixie dusted roses and a custom matted photo of Mickey and Minnie. The “A Wish Come True” option is a two day celebration beginning with a “Disney dozen” roses. The thirteenth rose is wrapped in gold ribbon and sprinkled with pixie dust. Day two of the celebration includes rose petals, candles, Cinderella Castle chocolates, a silver plated bracelet, and more.

8. IllumiNations Sparkling Dessert Party – This new dessert party is a great way to end your day of celebrating at Epcot. You can feast on desserts from around the world as you enjoy a spectacular view of IllumiNations: Reflections Of Earth. Featured desserts include baklava from Morrocco, flambéed churros from Mexico, chocolate Grand Marnier pot de crème from France, and more.

7. Carriage Rides – Cinderella is not the only one who can go for a carriage ride at Disney. You and your spouse can go on a romantic carriage ride at two of the Disney resorts. At Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, you can take a carriage ride through the beautiful pine and cypress tress. If a riverside carriage ride is more your style, you can travel along the banks of the Sassagoula River at Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside.

6. Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party – This Magic Kingdom dessert party is a fabulous way to end a magical day of celebrating in the parks. The Tomorrowland Terrace is my favorite place to watch Wishes. It provides a great view of the fireworks over Cinderella Castle, as well as, a spectacular view of Tinkerbell as she flies directly above the terrace. In addition to great views, this dessert party also includes delicious treats such as pastries, cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, and more.

5. Stay At A Deluxe Resort – An anniversary vacation to Walt Disney World is a special occasion. So why not make it extra magical by staying at one of Disney’s deluxe resorts? Each deluxe resort offers an exquisitely themed experience. You can stay at a Victorian era resort or a resort themed after our national parks. The deluxe resorts also offer unique pools such as the Nanea Volcano Pool at Disney’s Polynesian or Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club. The deluxe resorts also offer other great amenities such as monorail service or even a view of an African savanna!

4. California Grill – Celebrate your anniversary with fine dining at the California Grill. Located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, this dining experience offers Californian cuisine and a beautiful view of the Magic Kingdom across Seven Seas Lagoon. The best part of dining at California Grill? Watching the fireworks, of course! Even if your reservation is not during Wishes, just bring your receipt to the check-in desk, or let them know you have a later reservation and you will be invited to watch the fireworks from the lounge or the observation deck.

3. Fireworks Cruises – Disney also offers specialty fireworks cruises for both Wishes and IllumiNations. The cruises accommodate 8 to 10 guests. You can also book a romantic anniversary cruise for two. Fireworks cruises include snacks and soft drinks. The synchronized soundtrack for the show will also be played on board.

2. Victoria and Albert’s – Another great fine dining experience for a special anniversary dinner can be found at the Grand Floridian’s award winning Victoria & Albert’s. This restaurant is one of only 15 in America to receive the AAA Five-Diamond Award for 15 years in a row! A harpist, fresh flowers, and candlelight set the mood for your romantic anniversary celebration. The cuisine found at Victoria & Albert’s features contemporary American dishes. If you really want to splurge for your anniversary celebration, try a 10 course dining experience at the Chef’s Table or in Queen Victoria’s Room.

1.  Vow Renewals – Perhaps you’ve always dreamed of a Disney fairytale wedding. What better way to celebrate your anniversary than with a vow renewal ceremony at Walt Disney World! You can choose from several beautiful ceremony and reception locations such as Disney’s Wedding Pavilion, numerous locations around World Showcase, The Great Movie Ride, The Living Seas Salon, Harambe Street, and more.

Great post Kimberly! Love the top 10 list of ways to celebrate an anniversary! I hope to do the fireworks cruise in the future.

    • Me too! The fireworks cruise sounds like so much fun!

  • Becca_LoveOurDisney

My husband and I vacationed at Disneyland and we often plan trips around our anniversary. We love getting the buttons and writing which anniversary it is on it.
These are all great ways to celebrate in WDW and I hope to do some of those if we are ever there on our anniversary.
    Which is your favorite?

    • I love watching the fireworks from the Tomorrowland Terrace, although I haven’t watched it there since they started the dessert party. Sounds like the perfect way to celebrate an anniversary though!

  • Lin @ DisneyMamas

We honeymooned at WDW, and for the past several years have been able to celebrate our anniversary there every other year since it typically falls the week of Thanksgiving. This year we are doing a Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Vow Renewal for our 10th anniversary and I am so excited! You have provided some great tips, and given me a lot of ideas!

    • How special! Have you chosen a location for the vow renewal yet? I always thought it would have been neat to get married right in front of the castle (but I don’t think they offer that…).

      • Lin @ DisneyMamas

Yep! We are using Sea Breeze Point at the Boardwalk! You actually can get married in front of the castle…if you can afford it and want to get married either super, super early in the morning or super, super late at night!

        • The Boardwalk will be a great location! That is so cool that you can get married in front of the castle! I bet it’s super expensive!

          • Lin @ DisneyMamas

No kidding! I think I read a blog at one point where the starting price for the castle was $25,000!

          • Wow! Don’t think I could justify that…you could probably go to Disney at least 15 – 20 times for that!

  • Lisa Cameron

We celebrated our anniversary at WDW last year. Although we weren’t able to do romantic things since the kids were with us, we made sure to get pics alone and have a special dinner. Which restaurant would you recommend for a special occasion with kids in tow?

    • That’s a good question! I don’t have kids, so I can’t say for sure but maybe Le Cellier. I went there when I was a kid, although I don’t remember much of it. Be Our Guest or Via Napoli would probably be romantic and good for kids too (although I haven’t tried either of them yet).

  • What a super list – thank you for sharing – Have you ever done the carriage ride? How long is the ride?

    • I have not, but don’t they sound fun! They are 25 minutes long and cost $45, so they’re a bit expensive. But I think they would be perfect for an anniversary!

  • I love all of your ideas! We are going to celebrate our anniversary next year at WDW. It will be our 10th so I want it to be special. The fireworks cruise sounds like something I need to look into. 🙂

    • That sounds like a fabulous way to celebrate! Let me know if you do go on a fireworks cruise. I’d love to hear about it!

  • Bryce Yelverton

I have ALWAYS wanted to try Victoria and Albert’s. Maybe one day. Remy on the Disney Dream is probably pretty close though and I have enjoyed that in person! What is the best anniversary dinner in Animal Kingdom?

    • I honestly have no idea. I haven’t found a table service restaurant I really like at DAK. Rainforest Cafe is fun, but I’m not the biggest fan of the food. I’ve heard Yak and Yeti is good. I need to try it. I’ve also heard Tusker House is good. I need to try it too. I love Restaurantosaurus, but I definitely would call it romantic.

      • Tusker House would be a great anniversary dinner at AK! It’s definitely different than a traditional night out–great decor and setting. Sanaa over at AK Lodge would be more romantic, though. Much better ambiance and away from the hustle & bustle of the Parks.

  • All wonderful suggestions! I’ve always wanted to do a carriage ride. Have you done that yourself?

    • I haven’t, but it sounds fun!

  • We have done many anniversairies there (prior to kids) and have loved every single one of them. The buttons make all the difference in the world.

    • They do! I love all of the celebration buttons!

  • We’ve been at Disney over (or around) our anniversary several times – but always with the kids! We love getting the buttons and having everyone say “Happy Anniversary.” That’s such a special feeling! We even had a “magical moment” the other year when a Cast Member at the American Adventure called us up to the podium, saying we had a phone call. I freaked (I was so worried!) and it ended up being Goofy wishing us a Happy Anniversary!

  • We celebrated an anniversary at WDW too and did many of the things you suggested! My favorite was eating at California grill and watching Wishes! 🙂

    • I haven’t actually done that yet, but it sounds like so much fun! I have a friend who goes there almost every trip. It’s her and her husband’s favorite place to eat at Disney.

  • JenniferLissak

Those are great ways to celebrate – we haven’t done an anniversary yet – the msot exciting we do is get a date night while we’re there – but a nice dinner is good enough for me! Those are great “one day” ideas, though!

    • Date night at Disney would be fun!
