Walt Disney World Refurbishment Schedule Update for February 2018 - American Adventure

2018 is already proving to be a great year for Walt Disney World! We’ll soon have new attractions to enjoy and, of course, some of our favorites will soon shine like new as refurbishments are completed. If your family will be heading to Walt Disney World Resort soon, you’ll want to be aware of the scheduled refurbishments which may affect your visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth. The Refurbishment Schedule is subject to change, so be sure to  confirm any information prior to your vacation.

Magic Kingdom

  • Until further notice, the Walt Disney World monorail system is undergoing refurbishments and may be on modified service and/or routes. If you plan to use the monorail during your visit, be sure to check the best option available on your day of travel.
  • Splash Mountain’s lengthy refurbishment is schedule to be completed February 1, 2018.
  • The Liberty Square Riverboat is currently undergoing refurbishment until a date to be determined.
  • Pirates of The Caribbean is scheduled to close for refurbishments February 26 until March 18, 2018.
  • Cinderella’s Royal Table will be closed for refurbishments February 28 through March 2, 2018.

Epcot

  • The American Adventure is currently closed for refurbishment and is scheduled to open in early February.
  • The Circle of Life show located in The Land pavilion will close permanently on February 4, 2018.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

  • Kali River Rapids is currently closed through February 10, 2018.
  • Finding Nemo – The Musical will close for refurbishment on February 4, 2018. A re-opening date is yet to be announced.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park

  • Typhoon Lagoon is currently closed for the park’s annual refurbishment through March 18, 2018.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort

  • The Duck Pond Leisure Pool is currently closed for refurbishments through Spring 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. The Fantasia Pool, all merchandise, and dining locations will be available during this time.
  • Room refurbishments will take place late February through Winter 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All dining and merchandise locations will remain in full operation.

Disney’s All-Star Music Resort

  • The Calypso Pool will close for refurbishments late February until early March 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. The Piano Pool, all merchandise, and dining locations will be available during this time.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

  • Flippin’ Fins Pool is currently closed and scheduled to re-open in early February 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All dining and merchandise locations will remain in full operation. The Big Blue Pool and Cozy Cone Pool will be available.
  • Th Cozy Cone Pool will close for refurbishment early February through mid-February 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All dining and merchandise locations will remain in full operation. The Big Blue Pool and Flippin’ Fins Pool will be available.
  • Construction on Disney’s new transportation system, Disney Skyliner, is taking place until further notice. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas

  • Beginning February 12, Jambo House will participate in a pilot where transactions will be handled with convenient, cash-free options. All purchases and services at the resort will accept MagicBands, credit cards, debit cards, Disney Gift Cards, Disney Rewards Redemption Cards and contactless payments such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Google Pay.
  • July 31, 2018 will be the last day of operation for the Children’s Activity Centers. Kid’s Nite Out will remain available for guests looking for a babysitter service.

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn & Villas

  • Various refurbishment projects are currently taking place across the resort. During this time, the resort will be in full operation with all amenities available, including dining, merchandise and recreation locations. It is possible construction may be seen or heard, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.
  • July 31, 2018 will be the last day of operation for the Children’s Activity Centers. Kid’s Nite Out will remain available for guests looking for a babysitter service.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

  • Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Cabana Pool Bar, and Calypso Trading Post are closed for refurbishment through Fall 2018. A variety of dining options will be available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Centertown will serve breakfast and dinner. A selection of grab-and-go meals will be available for purchase at three island markets located in the Aruba, Jamaica, and Martinique regions of the resort. Additional a la carte offerings will be available at mobile food vending locations. In-room dining will remain available including pizza, sandwiches and pasta. The feature pool-Fuentes del Morro Pool – and leisure pools will all remain available. Recreation activities and entertainment will also be available. Buildings within Martinique and Barbados islands are unavailable to guests. During this time construction noise may be seen or heard throughout the resort, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.
  • Construction on Disney’s new transportation system, Disney Skyliner, is taking place until further notice. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

  • A hard goods refurbishment is currently taking place at Disney’s Coronado Spring Resort through Summer 2019. During this time, amenities including dining locations (such as the newly reimagined Rix Sports Bar and Grill) and merchandise locations, pools, La Vida Health Club with the spa and salon, and recreation activities such as beach volleyball, Iguana Arcade, Movies Under the Stars and more, will remain available. Noise will be heard while the resort is undergoing refurbishments, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms prior to 9 a.m.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

  • The Grand Floridian Beach Pool & Pool Bar is currently closed through Spring 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. The water play area and mug refill station will remain available at this location. All other dining locations and the Courtyard Pool will be available during this time.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

  • The Meadow Swimmin’ Pool is currently closed through early February 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All dining and merchandise locations will remain in full operation. The Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool will be available during this time.

Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort

  • The Big Dipper Pool and The Little Dipper Kiddie Pool will be unavailable through February 2018 due to routine maintenance. During this time, The Beach House Pool will be available. Guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All dining and merchandise locations will remain in full operation.

Disney’s Old Key West Resort

  • Room refurbishments will take place through Spring 2019. Guests may see or hear work in progress, and certain pathways may be unavailable. During this time, the resort will be in full operation with all amenities available including dining and merchandise locations, pools, and recreation activities. It is possible construction may be seen or heard, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.
  • The Turtle Pond Pool, Turtle Shack Snack Bar, and Flying Fish Gameroom will close for refurbishments April through early July 2018. During this time, guests may see construction. In addition, Sandcastle Pool, featuring a waterslide, kiddie pool and a variety of dining and recreation locations, will be available.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

  • The Lava Pool and waterslide will be unavailable in February 2018 due to routine maintenance. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All dining and merchandise locations will remain in full operation. The Oasis Pool will be available.
  • July 31, 2018 will be the last day of operation for the Children’s Activity Centers. Kid’s Nite Out will remain available for Guests looking for a child or babysitter service.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort

  • Room refurbishments are taking place through Summer 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear work in progress and certain pathways may be unavailable. All work will attempt to be limited to after 9 a.m.
  • The Bowling Pool will be closed for refurbishment late February through May 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. The Hippy Dippy Pool will be available. All dining and merchandise locations will remain in full operation.
  • Construction on Disney’s new transportation system, Disney Skyliner, is taking place until further notice. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.

Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter

  • Room refurbishments are taking place until late Spring 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All amenities including dining, merchandise and recreation locations will be available.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

  • The Paddock Pool is currently closed for refubishment through mid-February 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. The High Rock Spring Pool and the leisure pools located at The Grandstand, Congress Park and the Treehouse Villas will be available.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Boulder Ridge Villas, & Copper Creek Villas & Cabins

  • Copper Creek Springs Pool will be unavailable mid-February through late-February due to routine maintenance. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All dining and merchandise locations will remain in full operation. In addition, Boulder Ridge Cove Pool will be available.

Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts & Disney’s Beach Club Villas

  • July 31, 2018 will be the last day of operation for the Children’s Activity Centers. Kid’s Nite Out will remain available for Guests looking for a child or babysitter service.

Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center

  • Expansion work is taking place now through Winter 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear work in progress. Certain pathways may become unavailable. In an effort to minimize disruptions, work will attempt to be limited to after 9 a.m.

Disney Springs

  • Portobello Country Italian Trattoria is currently closed and will re-open as Terralina Crafted Italian at a date yet to be announced.

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

  • Roadwork is taking place in the area until further notice. Intermittent overnight lane closures, lane shifts, traffic congestion and noise impacts can be expected along Osceola Parkway / Victory Way.
