Wordless Wednesday: Summer

The theme for this week’s Wordless Wednesday is the Disney Days of Summer. Summer just happens to be one of my favorite times to visit Disney. Ok, so maybe every time of year is my favorite time to go, but summer is the time of year that I most often visit Walt Disney World.  Despite the crowds and heat, you can have a fabulous vacation during the summer. The parks are open later, the parades are wonderful, and nothing beats Splash Mountain on a hot Disney day!

When is your favorite time of year to visit Disney? Let us know in the comments below!

Thanks to Deb at Focused On The Magic for hosting the Wordless Wednesday blog hop!  Hop on over to her site to check out some other great photos of the Disney Days of Summer!

Kimberly's love of Disney began at an early age and grew even more when her family won a Walt Disney World vacation from a local radio station. She grew up visiting the parks every one to two years and is fascinated by Disney history and trivia. Whether at the parks or at home, Kimberly is constantly looking for hidden Mickeys. She enjoys sharing tips and helping others plan their Disney vacations. In addition to Frontierland Station, she can also be found writing for Park World Travel and selecting music for Park World Radio.

I have only visited Disney during the winter – but I’m Canadian so it always feels like summer! 😉 Christmas is my favourite time to visit!

    • I’ve only been at Christmas once, but it was wonderful! I can’t wait to go back at Christmas again!

I love visiting during the Fall! That’s when I did my Disney College Program, and I just fell in love with the weather and lack of crowds 🙂

    • The pictures I’ve seen of Disney in the fall are great! I love the Halloween decorations. I’m hoping maybe one of my next few trips will be in the fall so I can see them in person. 🙂

Oh you should! The Halloween decorations are amazing, and the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween PArty is super fun 🙂

Splash is the perfect ride for those toasty afternoons! It is the perfect way to keep you refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the day!

  • Agreed! I love the summers at Disney….even though it is hot and crowded, there is something special about it, especially at night! I love your pictures….especially of Sebastian!

    • Between the Main St. Electrical Parade and Wishes, the nights at Disney are extra magical! And I love that they usually do two parades each night in the summer.

I love going in early may…..or february or november. Not a fan of heat ! I do love a refreshing drop down splash mountain though! AND love Move it shave it parade! Fun photos

  • Summer is my least favorite time to visit – I’m from PA, so it seems EXTRA hot down there in the summer months! But, I’ll take a trip ANYTIME! 🙂

    • It is definitely extra hot! You generally won’t see me in the parks without my mister fan filled with ice water. It’s definitely a must have for me. 🙂

  • We went during the summer for the first time last year and it really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

    • I think the excitement of being at Disney totally makes up for the heat and the crowds. From my experience, the crowds in the summer are nothing compared to the New Years crowds!

  • I like your positive spin on summer- it gets a bad rap as a time to visit, so it’s nice to see your positive reasons for a summer trip!

    • I saw a blog post a while ago about Disney in the summer and it said you have to be 32 different flavors of crazy to go then (which I do agree). But it’s such a fun time to go – I guess that makes me crazy :-).

  • I go often in the summer and although the heat can be oppressive I really like the EMHs at night. That’s my favorite time to hit the parks. Thanks for sharing and for joining in the DWW Blog Hop fun.

    • I love the EMHs at night too! The parks just seem more magical to me at night. Thanks for hosting!

  • I agree, Splash helps to cool things down, almost get a chill after getting wet and heading into the AC. Thanks for sharing.

    • Splahs Mountain and a Mickey ice cream bar are my two favorite ways to cool off!

  • Splash is definitely my fave water ride! Thanks for sharing!

  • V No Privacy

I like any time the kids are in school so I don’t have to deal with the crowds! lol

    • I think you’ve got the right idea! If I was smarter, that’s exactly when I’d go!

  • james @ HomeisWheretheMouseis

Lisa’s a teacher, so we always go at “peak” times. Being from the northeast, almost any time of year in florida seems like “summer” to us! But the actual summer is when we’ve gone the most! I love the late hours and double showings of the parades! Splash Mountain is fun, but if you want to really get wet on a ride, head for Kali!

    • I went at Christmas one year and the weather was beautiful…almost felt like summer!
Yes, Kali is definitely a great way to cool off! I tend to avoid it though…I’m not the biggest fan of getting soaked. But it’s been so long since I’ve ridden it, I probably should ride it next trip. 🙂

Great pics Kimberly! My most favorite time of the year to visit Disney is in December. You get the Disney you came for and Christmas, all rolled into one!!

    • Christmas at Disney is so beautiful! I love seeing all the decorations and the snow on Main Street!

  • Love your pics this week! Makes me really want to be there now! Ahhh…75 more days!

    • Thanks! Makes me want to be there too (as if I didn’t already)! Have fun on your trip!

Let’s face it- there is NO bad time to go to Walt Disney World!! Just as Splash Mountain is a bit tough to take in January, it is perfection in July. Trekking around the Tree of Life is a bit tough in August, but come November it is one of our favorite things to do. It’s all good!
