Walt Disney World Refurbishment Schedule Update for June 2018 - Be Our Guest Restaurant

The Incredible Summer has begun at Walt Disney World! Many families, mine included, are counting down the days until their summer Disney vacation. If your family will be heading to the parks this summer, you’ll want to be aware of the scheduled refurbishments which may affect your visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth. The Refurbishment Schedule is subject to change, so be sure to  confirm any information prior to your vacation.

Magic Kingdom

  • Be Our Guest Restaurant will close for refurbishment August 20 – 24, 2018.
  • Until further notice, the Walt Disney World monorail system is undergoing refurbishments and may be on modified service and/or routes. If you plan to use the monorail during your visit, be sure to check the best option available on your day of travel.
  • The Liberty Square Riverboat is currently undergoing refurbishment until a date yet to be determined.

Epcot

  • Kringla Bakeri Of Kafe is currently closed. A re-opening date is yet to be announced.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

  • As Disney puts the finishing touches on the new entrance and queue, Toy Story Mania will not be available from June 11-18, 2018. When the attraction reopens, guests will continue to enter and exit the attraction on Pixar Avenue until Toy Story Land opens on June 30, 2018.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort

  • Room refurbishments are currently taking place through early 2019. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All dining and merchandise locations will remain in full operation.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

  • Construction on Disney’s new transportation system, Disney Skyliner, is taking place until further notice. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas

  • Room refurbishments will take place at Jambo House mid-August 2018 through Fall 2019. During this time, it is possible guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.
  • Uzima Springs Pool and Uzima Springs Pool Bar are scheduled to be closed for refurbishment September 2018 through early December 2018. During this time Samawati Springs Pool and Maji Pool Bar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village will be available. Brief rides via shuttle transportation will be provided to and from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House. During this time, it is possible guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9:00am.
  • Jambo House is now participating in a pilot where transactions will be handled with convenient, cash-free options. All purchases and services at the resort will accept MagicBands, credit cards, debit cards, Disney Gift Cards, Disney Rewards Redemption Cards and contactless payments such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Google Pay.
  • July 31, 2018 will be the last day of operation for the Children’s Activity Centers. Kid’s Nite Out will remain available for guests looking for a babysitter service.

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn & Villas

  • Refurbishments are currently taking place through mid-summer 2018 on the bridge near the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels. As a result, there will be no FriendShip boat service to or from Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Service to and from Epcot and Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts will not be interrupted. Additional Disney bus transportation will be operating to and from both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot during this time. The pedestrian walkway across the bridge will remain open.
  • Various refurbishment projects are currently taking place across the resort. During this time, the resort will be in full operation with all amenities available, including dining, merchandise and recreation locations. It is possible construction may be seen or heard, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.
  • July 31, 2018 will be the last day of operation for the Children’s Activity Centers. Kid’s Nite Out will remain available for guests looking for a babysitter service.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

  • Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Cabana Pool Bar, Goombay Games Arcade, and Calypso Trading Post are closed for refurbishment through Fall 2018. A variety of dining options will be available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Centertown will serve breakfast and dinner. A selection of grab-and-go meals will be available for purchase at three island markets located in the Aruba, Jamaica, and Martinique regions of the resort. Additional a la carte offerings will be available at mobile food vending locations. In-room dining will remain available including pizza, sandwiches and pasta. The feature pool-Fuentes del Morro Pool – and leisure pools will all remain available. Recreation activities and entertainment will also be available. Buildings within Martinique and Barbados islands are unavailable to guests. During this time construction noise may be seen or heard throughout the resort, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.
  • Construction on Disney’s new transportation system, Disney Skyliner, is taking place until further notice. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

  • Pepper Market is currently undergoing minor refurbishments through summer 2019 but will remain open during this time.   If guests would like to experience one of the other dining locations, they can visit Maya Grill, Las Ventanas, Café Rix, Laguna Bar, Siestas Cantina and the newly reimagined space, Rix Sports Bar & Grill, featuring a variety of sandwiches, salads and refreshing beverages. All amenities will remain in operation, including the Dig Site pool area, La Vida Health Club, Salon & Spa and the Iguana Arcade.
  • The Dig Site, home to The Lost City of Cibola Pool, volleyball court, playground, Iguana Arcade and Siestas Cantina, will be closed for refurbishment September through mid-December 2018. While this work takes place, other exceptional amenities, including three leisure pools, dining and merchandise locations, La Vida Health Club, Salon & Spa and recreation activities, including Movies Under the Stars and Campfires with Marshmallows, will remain available.
  • General construction and room refurbishments are taking place until further notice. During this time, amenities including dining locations (such as the newly reimagined Rix Sports Bar and Grill) and merchandise locations, pools, La Vida Health Club with the spa and salon, and recreation activities such as beach volleyball, Iguana Arcade, Movies Under the Stars and more, will remain available. Please note that noise will be heard while the resort is undergoing refurbishments, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms prior to 9 a.m. daily.

Disney’s Old Key West Resort

  • Room refurbishments will take place through Spring 2019. Guests may see or hear work in progress, and certain pathways may be unavailable. During this time, the resort will be in full operation with all amenities available including dining and merchandise locations, pools, and recreation activities. It is possible construction may be seen or heard, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.
  • The Turtle Pond Pool, Turtle Shack Snack Bar, and Flying Fish Gameroom are currently closed for refurbishments through early July 2018. During this time, guests may see construction. In addition, Sandcastle Pool, featuring a waterslide, kiddie pool and a variety of dining and recreation locations, will be available.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

  • July 31, 2018 will be the last day of operation for the Children’s Activity Centers. Kid’s Nite Out will remain available for Guests looking for a child or babysitter service.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort

  • Room refurbishments are taking place through Summer 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear work in progress and certain pathways may be unavailable. All work will attempt to be limited to after 9 a.m.
  • Construction on Disney’s new transportation system, Disney Skyliner, is taking place until further notice. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m.

Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter

  • Room refurbishments are taking place until Summer 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All amenities including dining, merchandise and recreation locations will be available.

Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside

  • One of the Alligator Bayou leisure pools is closed for refurbishment through Fall 2018, but the feature pool, Ol’ Man Island, and four other leisure pools will be available. During this time, it is possible that Guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All dining and merchandise locations will remain in full operation.
  • Room refurbishments are taking place through early 2019. During this time, guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from guest rooms between dusk and 9 a.m. All amenities including dining, merchandise and recreation locations will be available.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

  • The Turf Club Bar & Grill will close late July through early August 2018 for a kitchen refurbishment.

Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Hotels

  • Refurbishments are currently taking place through mid-summer 2018 on the bridge near the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels. As a result, there will be no FriendShip boat service to or from Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Service to and from Epcot and Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts will not be interrupted. Additional Disney bus transportation will be operating to and from both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot during this time. The pedestrian walkway across the bridge will remain open.

Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts & Disney’s Beach Club Villas

  • Expansion work is taking place now through Summer 2018. During this time, guests may see or hear work in progress. Certain pathways may become unavailable. In an effort to minimize disruptions, work will attempt to be limited to after 9 a.m.

Disney Springs

  • Portobello Country Italian Trattoria is currently closed and will re-open as Terralina Crafted Italian at a date yet to be announced.

Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course

  • This course will operate as a 9-hole golf course while it undergoes refurbishment June 18 through late August 2018.

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

  • Roadwork is taking place in the area until further notice. Intermittent overnight lane closures, lane shifts, traffic congestion and noise impacts can be expected along Osceola Parkway / Victory Way.

    Overall it is a good refurbishment schedule. Almost all of the major attractions are operational.

      It is! That’s one thing I love about visiting during the summer months – the big attractions are almost always open. When we visited during the slower season last year, I was a bit disappointed that one of my favorites, Splash Mountain, was closed.
